Chewits Chewie Gum

Being a child of the 70's Chewits were one of my favourite sweets. They have now brought out a range of bubble gum which we couldn't wait to try. The boys were thrilled when they saw the box of Chewie gum and  couldn't wait to try them all. Having never tried bubble gum before it was fun watching them trying to blow a bubble, fortunately we have plenty of Chewie Gum for them to practice with as they won't be breaking any bubble blowing records just yet!

Chewie Gum comes in three delicious flavours, Strawberry & Banana, Tropical and Lemon and the boys liked all of them. After trying them all my favourite was the lemon.

Playfoam Review

Playfoam looks like the polystyrene beads you get in beanbags and as I opened the packaging I was a little worried that the little beads would go everywhere. In reality this was not the case at all as Playfoam sticks together and actually feels quite sticky in your hands, yet surprisingly does not stick to clothes, fabrics, carpets or anything else that Playdoh does!  

My sons loved playing with it and whilst you can't get the same precision modelling that you can get with Playdoh it was still possible to create simple models with it. We made an elephant and snail and Auntie Jackie  made the pink mouse.

There was a good mix of colours and whilst I like to keep colours separate, mixed up Playdoh is a real pet hate of mine, with Playfoam you could stick different colours together and also separate them when you dismantle the model. This gave it a big thumbs up from me!

The big advantage that Playfoam has is that it never dries out. It would have been nice if there was a container to keep it it in but we have plenty of plastic boxes so it now has a new home in one of those.

Walkers Baked Hoops and Crosses

Walkers have brought out a new range of snacks called Hoops and Crosses, they come in three tasty flavours – Roast Beef, Salt & Vinegar and Prawn Cocktail. Each bag is packed full of flavour and contains no artificial colours or preservatives. As well as being a tasty, crunchy source of wholegrain, Hoops and Crosses contain fibre and 30% less fat, so they are a great option for lunch-boxes. Each bag contains only 85 calories so they are also perfect as a low calorie snack too.

We were lucky enough to receive a pack to review, along with a cute monkey that Luke was thrilled with.

We get through lots of crisps in our house as we all take packed lunches to school and work. There is always a variety of different crisps in the cupboard and we are always trying new crisps. 

Whilst Mark & WIlliam will eat most types and flavours , Luke is very picky when it comes to crisps. He will only eat certain flavours and brands so giving him a bag to try was the the ultimate test - would Hoops and Crosses pass the Luke test?

He opened the bag, tasted them and told me they tasted like Monster Munch. He ate the whole bag and then asked if we could buy some Salt and Vinegar flavour ones, so I would say that they have well and truly passed the test!

I did manage to try a couple and I thought they were very crispy and tasty and I will be buying the Salt and Vinegar and Prawn Cocktail flavours next time I go shopping.

They are perfect for lunch-boxes and I can see myself taking them to work as a mid morning snack.

Dirty Bertie - Toothy

Our latest Little Tiger book to review from The Little Tiger Panel is Dirty Bertie - Toothy

Dirty Bertie is a boy with lots of disgusting habits, madcap plans and crazy ideas. This is just the sort of book Luke loves and I could hear him giggling and laughing as he read this book. There are 3 stories in the book with each split into 4 chapters which make it easy to pick up and put down for younger readers. The writing is very clear and the illustrations are excellent. Luke's favourite story of the three was Toothy because he said it was the funniest and he could relate to it as he hates the dentist too! He has already said he wants to read more Dirty Bertie books and fortunately as this is the 19th Dirty Bertie book we have plenty more to collect.

Dirty Bertie - Toothy is written by David Roberts and illustrated by Alan Macdonald

Overall this is a great read and we would give it 5 out of 5
